Highlights of day's drive include stopping at Sarkar Lake memorial rest stop, climbing 465 stairs to the El Capitan Cave entrance, and Memorial Beach Picnic area. The memorial is for 12 Forest Rangers who died in a plane crash in Sumner Bay 1978

6/24/17 McCarthy, AK Sunn, rainy Driving the McCarthy road to Kennicott Copper Mine had to wait an hour to pass this high bridge that is being prepared. Matanuska River cabin and 2 trucks washed into river A dispatcher for the Alaskan Dispatch news took a picture of me. 12:30. Shortly after this a red truck crashed into the dish and was smoking geavily. Near Chickaloon, stopped ar cafe with antique tractors and cute stuff. Her sister lives in Gladbrook. She bought 5 tractors in Iowa and brought them to her place in Alaska

7/6/17 9:00 Sunny, warm Checked out Copper Landing for king fishing. No catches. Drove north on Tok Cutoff. Then east on Alaskan Hwy. at Northway drove the nine miles in and out to the village. Very swampy. Swans. Tetlin National Wild Refuge.

7/8/17 2:00 Whithorse, YK Cold and rainy John woke me up and said he needed to go to hospital. Drove around Whitehorse for an hour looking for it. Finally asked taxi drivier for directions. Everythng was closed. $550 for emergency room. $300 for doctor, lab work, medicine, and IV of anitbiotic for an outer ear infection.
5:00 Whithorse, YK Returned to parking and slept til 9:00.

4-6:00 Whithorse, YK Rosie walked to drug store that carries Tylonol with some codiene. $13.60. Stopped at Burnt Toast. A couple from Minnesota paid for my Leon and Lavender Radler from Yukon Brewing. It was sour at first. Her name was Rosie. Their good friend is from CF.
